Competition Team

The LINXX Academy competition team has a long and celebrated history competing on the local, regional, national, and international levels. Since 1992, Team-LINXX has produced dozens of champions over the years such as World Champion Muay Thai fighter Shawn Yarborough, World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC) champion Jeff “Big Frog” Curran, and UFC fighter Mackens “Mack da Menace” Semerzier.
Competition training is very different from regular instructional classes and we expect serious commitment from our team members. Training often occurs six days a week and consists of arduous conditioning routines and full-contact sparring. Often, new members are kept in a “support” role for a period of time to prove their dedication and worthiness.
Muay Thai
The LINXX Academy Muay Thai competition team has featured fighters in almost every major national and international event, including the International Federation of Muay thai Amateur World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. To be eligible to compete, students are required to have a minimum of six months of formal Muay Thai training.
Jiu-Jitsu
The LINXX Academy Jiu-Jitsu competition team has produced dozens of national and international Jiu-Jitsu champions, including LINXX founder Frank Cucci who won a Gold Medal at the 1999 World Champions in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. To be eligible to compete, students are required to have a minimum of 50 classes, or four months of formal Jiu-Jitsu training. Students interested in Gi and/or No-Gi competition may contact Nestor Bayot, the team coach.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
LINXX fighters have competed in MMA events since before the first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 1994. Due to the high risk of injury involved in MMA competition, we are very selective in who we allow to participate in these events. TO be eligible to compete, students are required to have a minimum of one year of Thai Boxing and one year of Jiu-Jitsu, or the equivalent.
