Frank Cucci Jr. Passes TBA Instructorship Test
Frank’s instructorship test was conducted during during Ajarn Chai’s annual visit to Linxx Academy on April 27, 2008. The test consists of three phases:
1. A demonstration of basic and advanced Muay Thai Techniques
2. A demonstration of the Wai Kru - a ceremonial “dance” performed by Thai Boxers to honor one’s teacher, school, and religion.
3. Complete two, three minute rounds against instructors wearing Thai Pads and protective equipment. The candidate must achieve a minimum of 60 kicks and 35 knees, while defending against the instructors constant attacks. The test is designed to push the instructor candidate to the limits of his abilities. It is not uncommon for candidates to get knocked out during the test, thus ending his chance to become an instructor until the following year.
After receiving his instructorship Frank said, “Becoming an instructor under the TBA was both physically and psychologically challenging due to the large audience and the additional pressure of following my father’s footsteps. I feel like achieving the rank of instructor in the TBA is a rite of passage for me…my Dad 15 years ago and now it’s my turn to help carry the torch.”
Frank joins fellow Linxx TBA instructors; Frank Cucci Sr. (Virginia State Representative for the TBA); Ian Alexander and Frank Brown (Full Instructors); Evan Taylor (Associate Instructor); Steve Raynor, Dan Brooks, and Scott Turner (Instructors). Congratulations Frank on a job well done!
