Black Belt Instructor Staff

Frank Cucci

Frank Cucci is the founder and head instructor of the LINXX Academy of Martial Arts (est. in 1994). He is a veteran of the elite U.S. Navy SEAL Teams and has over 25 years of martial arts experience.

He is a Black Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under Pedro Sauer and has trained extensively with Rickson and Royler Gracie.

Nestor Bayot

Nestor began his training in Jiu-Jitsu at LINXX Academy in 1996. Nestor is widely recognized for his technical expertise and effectiveness as an instructor. His understanding of Jiu-Jitsu is second only to his experience as a competitor.

Nestor’s accomplishments include:
  • The Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
  • Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships
  • 2004-2005 Representative for Team USA vs. Brazil.
  • 2004 National Championships

Scott Turner

Scott began his training at LINXX Academy in 1994. He is an accomplished instructor and a well-rounded martial artist who holds Black Belts in both Jiu-Jitsu and Thai Boxing. Scott is a nationally recognized competitor with an impressive MMA record of 9-1-0.

Scotts’ MMA and Jiu-Jitsu Competition experience include:
  • Ralph Gracie Open
  • Extreme Fighting Challenge
  • 2002 and 2004 Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
  • 2002 and 2004 Pan American Games

Brett Thompson

Brett Thompson began his training at LINXX Academy in 1997. He was an All-American high school wrestler, and was ranked among the top-ten wrestlers in the nation. Brett received a full scholarship to Virginia Military Institute (VMI) where he continued to wrestle at a division 1 level.

Brett’s wrestling background, along with his great determination and natural ability, contributes to his unprecedented level of skill technical expertise. Brett is currently employed as an attorney in Norfolk, VA.

Brett’s competitive experience includes:
  • The 2003 World Championships in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
  • Various local, regional and national Jiu-Jitsu Championships

George Hornyak

George Hornyak has been studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at LINXX Academy since 1998. He began Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 34, and has trained consistently ever since, never letting injuries or other obstacles prevent him from attending classes.

He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1983 through 1987. Shortly thereafter, he began competing in powerlifting winning numerous state titles and qualifying for nationals as a drug-free powerlifter.

Once he began training in the art of Jiu-Jitsu, he quickly learned the value of technique over strength. He has been teaching Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since receiving his brown belt from Pedro Sauer, focusing on perfecting the basics with the understanding they form the backbone of Jiu-Jitsu.

James Gamble

James Gamble is currently serving on active duty stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. James began his training at LINXX Academy in 2003 and holds the rank of BJJ brown belt. Although he has never had any formal training in martial arts prior to training at LINXX Academy his hard work, dedication, and attention to detail have made him a technical student and instructor. He has competed in numerous local, regional, and national tournaments.

James’ competitive experience includes:
  • (2 silver, 1 gold) Grapplers Quest
  • 2004 Pan American Jiu Jitsu Championships competitor
  • (2 silver) Budweiser World Cup
  • (2 silver) VABJJ
  • (1 gold) NAGA
