The Linxx Academy competition team has a long and celebrated history. Competing internationally since 1992, Team-Linxx has produced dozens of Champions over the years such as World Champion Muay Thai fighter Shawn Yarborough, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) champion Jeff "Big Frog" Curran, and Hawaiian MMA Superstar Brandon Wolff.
Please keep in mind that competition training is handled very different than in our regular instructional classes. We expect serious commitment from our team members. Training often occurs six days a week and consists of arduous conditioning routines and full-contact sparring. Often, new members are kept in a "support" role for a period of time to prove their dedication and worthiness.
Students that are serious about competing have the opportunity to join either of our three competition teams; our teams consist of:

Ian Alexander, WKA Muay Thai
Middleweight Champion
1. Muay Thai
The Linxx Academy Muay Thai competition team compete at the local, regional and international level. Our fighters have been featured in almost every major national and international event, including the IFMA World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of six months of training in the Linxx Thai Boxing program to ensure a firm understanding of the basic techniques. Exceptions are made on a case by case basis. Interested students may contact Coach Ian Alexander for further information. Ian is currently the WKA National Champion, and IKF East Coast Regional Champion.
2. Jiu-Jitsu
The Linxx team has produced dozens of national and world Jiu-Jitsu champions; to include Linxx founder Frank Cucci who won a Gold Medal at the 1999 World Champions in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing competitive martial arts in the country. Jiu-Jitsu tournaments do not involve striking which makes this method of competition popular to all skill levels. Generally, we require students to attend a minimum of 50 classes or four months of training, before entering a tournament. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
Students interested in Gi and/or No Gi competition may contact Team Coach and Black Belt instructor, Nestor Bayot.

3. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Jeff Curran, WEC Fighter
While most people consider MMA to be a new phenomenon, Linxx fighters have competed in MMA and other "no holds barred" events since before the first Ultimate Fighting Championship in 1994.
Due to the high risk of injury involved in MMA competition, we are very selective in who we allow to participate in these events. Team members are required to have a minimum of one year of Jiu-Jitsu and one year of Muay Thai. Exceptions to this prerequisite are rare, but made on a case by case basis.
Some of our recent MMA Champions include: Kris Gonzalaz (2007 WKA North American Champion), and Mackens Semerzier- 2007 WKA North American Champion and Cagefest 145lb Champion.
