Junior Thai Boxing Tournament

Sixty participants from four different schools turned out for the LINXX Academy of Martial Arts Junior Thai Boxing Tournament on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Competitors aged 7-14 were placed into two divisions: intermediate and advanced. The brackets were broken down further according to weight, experience, and gender.

LINXX Academy founder, Frank Cucci, opened the tournament with a quick rules and regulations meeting, and then the action began. Intermediate level competitors limited their attacks to body punches, clinching, knees, foot jabs and leg, body and head kicks. Full contact was reserved for advanced-level bouts, as well as final rounds of each weight class for intermediate brackets. The rules for full contact bouts allowed strikes to the head, body, and legs by using kicks and hand strikes. Simultaneous bouts were held in three separate rings, attended by three judges and a referee.

One of many notable fights was between Deandre Corbe and Trident Academy student Daniel Glover. Utilizing the clinch and knee strikes, Deandre pulled off an impressive and dominate victory over his opponent. Both fighters showed great form and technique as well as a strong determination to finish. LINXX would like to thank all of the competitors and volunteers who helped make this event a success!
